About ROTA

Reach Out To Asia

Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s programme, Reach Out to Asia (ROTA), launched in December 2005 in Doha – Qatar, by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. ROTA programme is committed to providing high quality and relevant primary and secondary education, encouraging relationships among communities, creating safe learning environments and restoring education in crisis affected areas across Asia and around the world.
ROTA programme envisions a world, where all young people have access to the education they need in order for them to realise their full potential and shape the development of their communities.

About ROTA | Reach Out To Asia

Our Mission and Goals

Our Mission and Goals

ROTA envisages a world in which all young people have access to the education and training they need in order to realize their full potential and shape the development of their communities. ROTA’s mission is that, together with partners, volunteers, and local communities, ROTA works to ensure that people affected by crisis across Asia and around the world have continuous access to relevant and high-quality primary and secondary education. ROTA operates in ten countries across Asia; in Qatar, ROTA engages young people and other community members in addressing educational and development challenges both at home and abroad.

ROTAs pathway to achieving this vision and mission is through enhancing skills development, using sports as a tool for education, integrating environment education, and revitalizing the use of Arabic. In the coming years, ROTA will strive to deliver on its mission through becoming a pioneering and top ranked Qatari NGO with a significant donor and partnership base, directly supporting education programs in Asia.

Who we are

Together with partners, volunteers, and local communities, ROTA works to ensure that people affected by crisis across Asia and around the world have continuous access to relevant and high-quality primary and secondary education.

How we do it

To improve the quality of education in crisis-affected countries by promoting new or improved teaching techniques and tools, facilitating the sharing of expertise among educators, and helping to ensure that schooling prepares young people for the realities of local and global economies.

Why we do it

To leverage ROTA’s strengths and resources as a Qatar-based organization to conduct advocacy on issues related to education in crisis settings.

What We Do

What We Do

ROTA has joined the global effort to achieve basic, quality education for both primary and secondary school children throughout Asia and the Middle East – helping local communities overcome major obstacles to the education that can ultimately lead to a better quality of life in Asia.

Approach

Our approach focuses on promoting and investing in access to quality education and in the development of human resources, in close partnership with local and international communities. We apply the following tactics to accomplish our goals.

  • Understanding the needs of local communities before offering solutions
  • Collaborating with communities to ensure program support and sustainability
  • Empowering youth to become leaders in society
  • Promoting cultural dialogue and fostering a sense of unity
  • Employing cutting-edge technology to facilitate programs
  • Connecting universities within the region

ROTA has identified fourteen countries where immediate action is a priority:

  • Afghanistan
  • Bangladesh
  • Cambodia
  • Indonesia
  • Iraq
  • Lebanon
  • Nepal
  • Pakistan
  • Occupied Palestinian Territories
  • Syria
  • Yemen
  • Tunisia
  • Philippines
  • Sudan
Some of them are among the world’s poorest countries according to the World Bank, while others have suffered war or natural disasters in recent years. In each country ROTA assists the restoration of social and educational infrastructure and ensures a better future for 48 million children.

In each of our chosen countries, we will build or adopt schools; promote female education; initiate academic fellowships; coordinate student exchange programs; provide teacher and vocational training; and connect participating countries through a shared Knowledge Network.
