I am a Fashion Designer from Istituto Marangoni Paris, France, with three fashion shows presenting my performing fashion brand, Amrit Kaur Paris within Paris Fashion Week.
Also, a Fashion Stylist from Istituto Di Moda Brugo, Doha, Qatar, with first prize in “Design Your Dream Career” Competition 2019.
Founder of Amrit Atelier – the creative studio where I express and bring my many projects to life! Coming from an international background of India, Singapore, Qatar & Paris, this cultural fusion is evident in the aesthetic of my brands & designs.

(2) Tell Me Something About Your Family & How they have Supported you in achieving your Dream?
Being in a world where women are not given much of a choice to explore something beyond marriage and children, my family supported & trusted my late nights, my travels, gave leniency to my duties like I would sometimes see them only once a week while we stayed in the same house. They would even participate in my whims, like being my inhouse crew for photoshoots & fashion shows, like they would be my models, photographer, editors, makeup artist and more. They even support by sometimes material shopping with me and bargaining fiercely.
(3) Tell Me About Your Best/Memorable Childhood Memory.
Bless, my childhood was a happy one in Singapore. I cannot pin point just one memory as we had many adventures outdoors there. One of the main thing I would be grateful for was how close to nature we were in Singapore.
(4) Tell Me About Your Biggest Fear in life.
If I die tomorrow, have I done everything I have ever wanted? I may have not reached the point I want to be but I am definitely happy to do the best for something I love everyday.

When I do get the chance, I like to go dancing, whether it be for workout classes or with friends.

(8) Tell me about your journey as a Fashion Designer
My journey has been full of learning experiences & self-improvement. It is beyond sketching dresses & organizing fashion shows. There were so many fields that I realized I needed to teach myself about, especially with the industry evolving every day.
I started my journey mainly studying fashion design at Istituto Marangoni, Paris, where I was fortunate to have amazing internships with reputed fashion designers like Rick Owens, John Galliano, Hussein Chalayan. Through my internship with Maison Anggy Haif, I started my own brand, Amrit Kaur Paris, and featured it in a show during Paris Fashion Week. It caught attention and I was able to present two more shows during the next fashion weeks at just the age of 21.
I then decided to learn techniques, gain textile knowledge & get more exposure so I travelled from Paris to India, and then back to Qatar. Combining all the cultural attributes I had gained during my upbringing and now, with a more redefined vision, I expanded Amrit Kaur Paris to Madame Mirchi & Aafat The Misfit, all under Amrit Atelier.
(9) What kind of clothes do you generally design & for whom??
I generally design custom made dresses for women. We can create your dream dress from sketch to reality. Since the process is quite intense, it takes about 2 months. That is why, our designs are usually seen in special occasions such as red carpet events, fashion shows, exhibitions, weddings, and more. We hope to expand into menswear soon.
(10) What has inspired you to become a fashion designer ?
As an entrepreneur, we are always trying to solve problems we face in our lives. Being of so many different cultures, I could never find anything that specifically worked for my upbringing and dazzled at my events. At the same time, the industry wasn’t very bodyconscious as well regarding different types of bodies as it is today. So I decided to create the custom fit and absolutely unique to help you stand out.
(11) A Few words about Qatar & how this place has helped you in fulfilling your dreams?
Qatar has been very supportive in terms of opportunity. I feel that I was able to set up my mark here while having the chance to learn about luxury marketing, business structure & professional etiquettes here.
I also was able to win a scholarship to study Fashion Styling in Istituto di Moda Brugo here in Qatar in their collaboration with Gulf Times.

That we should always strive for our passions, and keep going, no matter what life throws at us.
