I still find itâs easy for us to fall prey to negative thinking. Having negative thoughts can only bring you pain, something that weâve experienced many times throughout our life.
Every time I get back up from my lowest point, it seems as if negative thoughts will drag me down all over again. They drain you of energy and keep you from being in the present moment.
Whether itâs the fear of actually being happy only to be sad once again or the self-doubt and self-judgment that pop up when things are going well and Iâm healthy, negative thoughts seem to win every single time. We all go through this, isnât it?
Over the years, often we become so deeply lost in whatâs passed or whatâs to come, and that which we canât control, that weâre no longer conscious or aware of the present moment. Ultimately, we become prisoners of negative thoughts, which worsens our stress and anxiety.
Give your mind the best thoughtsâŠ.
Here are some self-care tips to help you combat negative thinking and start believing the best for yourself.
Look for the Silver Lining
Itâs easy to focus on what has or can, go wrong in any given situation, but thereâs power in digging deeper to find some good in the midst of the bad. Perspective is wealth! When your brain starts to spiral downward, challenge yourself to see the positive side to every negative thought.
Remind yourself that Life is Good
No matter what, youâre blessed and you are a blessing. We donât define life by its bad times; we define it by all the moments we made memorable. Think back over your life to recall moments of joy, peace, love, and hope to hold on to as you push through the tougher seasons.
Steer clear of Negative People
Cultivate relationships with those who are committed to thinking the best about you and the world. Youâll have accountability that can cheer you on your good days, and pull you out of the runnel on bad ones.
Give yourself something to Look Forward
Whether itâs a relaxing spa session or your favorite meal from your favorite restaurant, fit things into your days and weeks that make you excited to start each day.
Remember your awareness and inner strength are stronger than any negative thoughts you may have. As you put these tips into practice, always remember to give yourself grace.
Much Love
