UNSCRIPTED Kabir AKA Subah Man-Story of an Intern to a Coveted Morning Radio Jockey

When we see life, it feels like we all have a plan. The plan to go to school, get a job, get on with the family business and settle down. Somehow for me, life was never a planned affair. As I enrolled into graduation I decided to start working at a call centre at the young age of 18. Fresh out of college with nothing to keep me busy or distracted , it was a learning experience like never before. I thoroughly enjoyed the job, the usual humdrums but life was more exciting when the scenes were enacted outside of the office.

From where I sat, I could see the next destination clearly, a well known radio station on the country, or so I thought!

Confident enough now, I decided that it was time I waltzed in to give my super confident audition. So confident that I could deliver so much information in a much shorter time, I ended up being ousted because I spoke , guess what, Too Fast!

Soon enough, my office caught on the same and said I was Too Fast. But as they say ‘The Speed Never Bothered Me Anyway’ The Blessing from my parents always boosted up my confidence.

 

It was time to stop scripting life now and run with the unscripted version I believed to be true in my heart. As the thought forms, so does its mirroring universe. The mirror was a reflection into a huge event where I met one of the most creative Radio Professionals I idolised, RJ Naved. My humble plea and magnanimous interest in his work and the field of Radio got me a free internship with the most celebrated professional of the field. As I watched him work everyday, I realised how Radio and furthering on from that life, could not be scripted. From here began the idea of The Unscripted. While learning to mirror the chaos  into an art called Radio, I got the opportunity to audition for another big brand which was making waves across India. I couldn’t have scripted the life after the audition with the rapid way it changed, my name to Kabir, my location to Jodhpur, my life from an intern to a coveted Evening Radio Jockey, to the humbling award that started shaping me up. In the year 2015, I had the pleasure to be a part and driving face of the campaign ‘Longest Drive-Through Amazing India’ which became a part of Guiness Book Of World Records. Life can’t be scripted, neither can be the opportunities, you have to shape your mind to be prepared for it all.

In 2016, I attempted to run for the record of ‘Big RJ Marathon’. The show went on for a gruelling 106 hours which got me a small but substantial name in the Limca Book Of Records. From one award to the next, it was a moment of reckoning when THE UNSCRIPTED KABIR received the Golden Mic for most entertaining RJ Pan-Rajasthan.

Life moved on at a fast unscripted pace as years flew by in Jodhpur and I landed in Lucknow, the lovely capital of one of the biggest States Of India. Just as records are not scripted,  good work is also never scripted out, we feel it call out and we give it our best.

From working against human-trafficking, mobilizing the sanitization movement across the city to helping acid-attack victims, THE  UNSCRIPTED KABIR was becoming confident in the opportunities and appreciation that came through the universe. I could have never scripted this even with the best storyteller by my side, or maybe He was by my side after all. For the first time ever the blend of stories, poetry and unplugged music came alive on radio, Fever Cafe.
