HH the Amir donates QR50 million for Sudanese flood victims

Qatar has always upheld its unwavering support to Sudan through times of crisis and emergencies.

The people of Qatar have once again come together to extend support to Sudan as it faces one of the worst floods in recent history and is experiencing a state of emergency.

In this regard, Qatar Charity (QC) and the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) under the supervision of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) and the Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) have been running a donation drive to collect funds for the affectees of the catastrophe in Sudan.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani donated QR50 million to this ‘Peace be with Sudan’ campaign, during a live fundraising transmission held on Qatar TV yesterday.

 

The transmission saw several local banks, private companies, health institutions, as well as groups and individuals come forward with their generous donations.

The program ran over two hours and concluded with a total of QR89,669,812 donation amount.

The Ambassador of Sudan to Qatar Abdulrahman AlSediq Mohamed hailed Qatar’s initiative and called the support from the people of Qatar toward the people of Sudan as something natural and voluntary.

“Qatar has always been quick to respond to such difficult situations around the world and the government of Sudan highly appreciated this. The people of Qatar and Sudan have strong and deep ties and their leaderships have great co-operation with each other. Qatar has also been playing a key role in enhancing peace, stability and development in Sudan,” he is quoted to have said by Gulf Times.
