I’m not a regular blogger but have attempted to write this article with an intent to share certain life experiences. People all over the world talk about balanced living and there is no dearth of information on the internet regarding this.

Here is my personal view of what balanced living is all about:

First: Conscious Living

A balanced life has to have strong roots to spiritual living. Each one of us should believe and follow our scriptures, irrespective of our faith and how old or young we are. There is a misnomer that spiritual living is only for people who are old, but my view is that this habit should be inculcated at a very young age.

One can be a confident person only if one has a conscious living. The first step of conscious living is to understand that life is not a race. The concept of “survival of the fittest” applies only to flora and fauna and this is what should distinguish a human being. Each one of us should believe that we have an opportunity to live and to understand that none of us can achieve things merely with our efforts.

Second: Evaluating Ourselves Often

Most of us don’t spend time evaluating ourselves. There is so much time spent on social media than carrying out a true introspection. Social media has now become a medium for advertising oneself or criticising others. This has resulted in peer comparisons which is not a progressive thing. Self-reflection on the other hand is a way to scrutinize your internal feelings by going inward, and it helps you to rebuild your lost relation with your own self. It helps you to seek a solution to your problems which largely is your own making.

Third: Practice Healthy Living

There can be no denial that our daily habits contribute a great deal to balanced living. We cannot claim to have a balanced life if we do not follow regular healthy habits. Our body clock should follow the Sun’s energy, if we deviate from this, we are not living a healthy life.

Secondly, our eating habits make a whole lot of difference to our lives. A healthy diet provides holistic benefits while an unhealthy diet leads to depression and anxiety. If the mind has to be tuned inwardly, it has to be treated with the right food and at the right time. “Yoga” itself means the meeting of the body and the mind; so just physical exercise is not Yoga. They are only asanas.

Fourth: Ethical living

I believe that an ethical living sums up a balanced life. Irrespective of where we work, whom we connect with, we have to remember not to forgo life’s key principles. Everyone has a personal choice to live ethically – making decisions in our daily life which considers ethics and moral values which includes caring for everything around us.

To Sum up:

An overall wellness or balanced living involves one’s values, beliefs, and purpose. Few ways to have a balanced living is to

  1. Calm your mind and focus on your inner self
  2. Look for deeper relationships
  3. Be mindful of what and when you eat
  4. Try yoga and meditation
  5. Think positively
  6. Adhere to human values and have respect for fellow humans
